Camp Wild

Camp Wild: Idaho Backpacking Adventure

Introducing Camp Wild. This has been brewing in my mind for years. Here it is! The best of Camp Scabs.

The original Camp Scabs grew from my own life's rupture and a desire to connect with people who wanted wholeness. It started out in a rinky-dink cabin and over the years has evolved. We've camped in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Georgia, Tennesse, and Wyoming.

Camp Wild is perfect for anyone looking for fresh air, movement, and mental clarity. On the trail, you'll experience hope, wholeness and brokenness, laughter, vulnerability, expansion, connection, comfort, and discomfort. You'll gain a deep understanding of how to captain your ship, embody personal boundaries, and nurture rooted self-care. You'll experience work, sweat, play, and rest. Through it all, the Scabology alumni will walk with you and support your growth and your desire to expand. Bonus: we're gonna make fire!

FAQs

"Is it awkward if I come alone. I don't know anyone?"  ANSWER: If you come alone, you're not alone. Most come not knowing a soul and leave with a handful of lifelong friends. The experience is warm and welcoming.

"What if I've never backpacked before?" ANSWER: No problem. Our guide knows the area well and will ensure we are safe. This is not a race or a competition, this is a steady hike. We will rest when we need to rest and move when we need to move. Your responsibility is to provide Scabology with a medical release, and ensure you can walk 5-7 miles a day with a 30-40lbs backpack, and bring an open heart.

"Are payment plans available?" ANSWER: Yes, during the registration process you have two payment options: pay in full or pay over 3 months.

"What kind of backpacking gear do I need?" ANSWER: After registration, you will be sent a detailed packing list but the basics include shelter (tent, hammock, tarp, or bivy), and sleeping bag/pad, a backpack to carry your gear, headlamp/flashlight & batteries, water containers, mess kit, personal items etc. Good shoes and socks that are worn in are a must. New shoes will only make the hike painful with possible blisters.

"Tell me about food?" ANSWER: All meals will be provided. We will cook together at the main camp and for backpacking you will be provided with you meals to carry and prepare. Provide your own snacks and your own lunch Saturday afternoon. Let me know if you have any special food needs.

"What about transportation?" ANSWER: The closest airports will be Salt Lake City UT (3hr drive), Idaho Falls  ID(1hr 40 min drive), Jackson WY (1hr 40 min drive). You are responsible for your transportation to and from our base camp near Wayan, ID. We can help facilitate communication for car pools.

Boundaries Workshop

This is a half-day workshop in Gilbert AZ from 5-9pm. During this workshop, we will practice and build a whole new way of connecting to and communicating your boundaries. The atmosphere is relaxed, safe, and anonymous. Bring your journal and wear comfortable active clothing. A nourishing dinner will be provided.

The Scabology philosophy on boundaries is 2-fold. First, boundaries come from a solid place within. They're rooted in the belief and knowledge that you have a fundamental right to that boundary. Second, boundaries are an invitation to others. It's an opportunity for kindness, connection, and rebuilding. It's a place to invite those we care about to meet us at our boundaries.

At this workshop you will:

Learn body posturing and how to be firm and flexible at the same time

Connect to what grounds you and work from your core values

Learn specific tools, scripts, and language for communicating boundaries

Know w hat to do when boundaries are crossed or invitations aren't met

Learn what your body is telling you, and how to act on it

Learn the science of action; how to reroute the brain & body to a place of competence

Practice, practice, practice

Burning Ceremony-[SOLD OUT]

Getting rid of something is the best way to make room for new growth. And, I can't think of a more visceral way to do this, than with fire.

Whether it's a t-shirt, jewelry, your Weight Watchers tracking sheet, old letters or pictures, a piece of paper with all your words written on it, lingerie, or a small spool of thread that represents how tied up you have felt...bring it, burn it and let's celebrate the fire to change that's within us all.

So, invite your friends, bring something to burn, light a match, and join us.

[SOLD OUT]

p.s. As always, we have a scholarship fund for those who'd like to come but $$ is an issue.
